Brotherly Love

When Jordan was born and Dawson came to the hospital to meet him, he didn’t really think much of his brother. If fact he didn’t like that I was holding Jordan and didn’t even want to be in the same room as Jordan and I! So needless to say I was a little nervous about what it was going to be like when we got home. Now there is SO much love, almost too much! Whenever I put Jordan down for his morning nap Dawson asks where the baby went, he will run around the house shouting “baby! baby!” until he finds him and will hop up on the crib and say “hi baby!”. Of course this will wake Jordan up, so I have to threaten him with time out whenever he starts looking for his brother. Lately I have been putting a gate in front of Jordan’s room when he takes a nap. (caught in the act!)
Dawson loves to share things with his brother also, many times I will be taking Jordan out of his car seat and find some of Dawson’s cars in there with Jordan. Dawson also tries to share his sippy cups and food with Jordan, which is all a little scary right now but I am hoping it will last as they get older. When we took Dawson to the Jazz game for his birthday it was the first time we left Jordan without Dawson, when we dropped Jordan off at my parents house and got back in the car the first thing Dawson did was look over at where Jordan normally sits and asked “where’d the baby go?” I had to explain that the baby got to stay and play with grandma and he got to go to a basketball game. I love that he misses his brother when he leaves him :) Any sound that Jordan makes Dawson will copy and laugh at, he thinks that Jordan is so funny. Jordan is also very entertained by Dawson! If I am making dinner and Jordan starts to cry I just tell Dawson to go talk to Jordan. Dawson will start to play with him and calm him right down, Dawson has been such a good help with his brother…most the time. When Dawson feels like he needs your full attention he will point to Jordan’s chair and tell you to put him down, but what more can you expect from a two year old. I love my little boys so much and I love to watch them grow and interact together!

Impressive . . . I can relate with many points of your story . . . the "too much love" and the "put that baby down" (except Emmie says, "Jimmy down")

I'm glad I read your blog because I have been getting so worried about Jet being jealous of baby #2. I hope he will want to help out as much as Dawson because that is just adorable!

What a good big brother!! It's so nice to have a little help with the baby sometimes, even if it is big brother:) Happens at our house all the time. Boys are so fun huh! we really need to get together.

I can't believe how big Jordan is getting! Those pictures and stories of Dawson loving Jordan are so funny! It's probably nice to have to worry about too much love better than hitting or fighting.

I've been really curious about how Lili's going to react to her baby sister. I'm a little worried that her initial response will be like Dawson's because she's terrified of doctors and hospitals so I'm anticipating that she is not going to be very excited about coming to the hopsital to meet her baby sister! One more month and we'll find out!
